Whinash Ridge

Distance 20 kilometres (12.5 miles)

Located between two national parks, and despite having a major traffic corridor running across each end of the valley, the Westmorland Borrowdale remains relatively seldom visited.   Both side of the valley offer ridge walking of distinctly different character, with this particular walk following the gently undulating northern ridge before descending to return via the picturesque valley bottom.   This route can be combined with its counterpart walk (Whinfell Beacon) to make a challenging 'Borrowdale Round' high-level walk.
