Walkmill Community Woodland

Walkmill Woodland is a former coal mining site now developed for recreation. The terrain is undulating, and bounded by mixed woodland and open areas of arable land. 

This linear route follows a clear path on crushed stone surface with some crossfalls over short sections (up to 3°, 1:30 gradient) and some steep inclines (up to 5° 1:12 gradient). On this walk look out for orchids, buzzards and numerous species of smaller birds.

Time to walk: 1 hour (approx)

Terrain: Crushed stone surface, some steep gradients

Start Point: Car park near Walkmill Bridge, I kilometre to the south west of Moresby Parks, White-haven. (OS Grid Ref: NY 006 187) 

Public Transport: The site is not directly served by public trans-port. Route 22 stops in Moresby Parks (limited service). It is not a low floor vehicle
