Highways Capital Programme

Cumbria County Council has one of the largest highway networks in England with 7,900km of carriageway, 4,000km of footways and cycleways and 45,000 lighting columns.

The Council makes sure that the highway network is effectively maintained and it is in a safe condition for all users by delivering maintenance works annually across all Cumbrian districts. The Department for Transport provide funding annually to Cumbria County Council to undertake this maintenance activity.

The tables presented here represent the highway maintenance work that is being delivered during the 2020/21 financial year across each district.

A well maintained and well managed highway can contribute towards the Council's priorities.
