Fly tipping

What is fly tipping?

Fly tipping is any waste that has been unlawfully left in a public area. It is a serious offence to fly tip. Offenders can be fined up to £20,000 or even sent to prison. Reports of fly tipping should be made to your local district or borough council (refer to the links below) or to the Environment Agency on 0800 807060.

Contact your local district Council..

What do I do if I see a fly tipping incident?

Don't try and tackle the fly tipper yourself. If you do see someone fly-tipping, then it is helpful if you can take note of: When and where the fly tipping occurred, Vehicle registration, Description of the vehicle - colour, make and model. Is there anything special about it? Does it have an insignia or contact numbers? What sort of rubbish is being dumped? Then, either contact your local district Council or the Environment Agency.
