Planning Application Forms

The County Council encourages planning applications to be made online via the Planning Portal wherever possible. Online submissions helps speed up the process and saves printing and postage costs for applicants as four sets of paper copies of the application documents are required if an application is not made electronically.

The County Council endeavours to acknowledge receipt of an online applications within one working day and aims to confirm whether or not an application is valid within five working days.

The  Planning Portal website provides the facility for submission of all applications except those for new Minerals Proposals (i.e. new development on or adjacent to an existing mineral site or new proposals for opening up a quarry). For such Minerals Proposals the Minerals Application form contained in the below table should be completed.

Alternatively you can download the relevant application form; help text; and guidance notes below and submit your application via email to or in paper form to: -

Development Control, Cumbria County Council, County Offices, Busher Walk, Kendal, LA9 4RQ.
