Planning - Validation list consultation 2018

We are currently consulting on a local list for the validation of planning applications. We have traditionally relied upon national guidelines to validate planning applications, however, these simply specify what is legally required to submit a planning application. The national guidelines don't cover things such as transport assessments or air quality reports or contaminated land studies, which may be necessary to understand the impact of large scale proposals. 

Conventionally, this information could only be requested after validation and as a result, it has led to delays in decision making. By adopting a local list, this information becomes a requirement before validation and should help applicants to submit better, more informed planning applications and speed up decisions.
