Development Control & Regulation Committee

All major planning applications for minerals, waste and county council developments are currently reported to the County Council's Development Control and Regulation Committee for determination. The Development Control and Regulation Committee is made up of 17 elected County Councillors and currently meets on a six weekly cycle at County Offices in Kendal. Details of the Committee can be found here.

Decisions on smaller scale applications for planning and/or listed building consent are often made by the Assistant Director of Planning and Sustainability under powers delegated to him by the County Council. The criteria which determine whether an application can be determined under delegated powers or whether it must be determined by the Development Control and Regulation Committee are set out within Part 8C of the Council's Constitution.

All decisions are published in the form of a decision notice which can be viewed via the County Council's Online Planning Register or in person at the offices of your local district/borough council.

Agendas for the Development Control and Regulation Committee (which contains officer reports on individual applications) are made available at least 5 working days before each committee.  Minutes of the DC&R Committees are made available within a week of the meeting. A list of future meeting dates for the Committee can be found below.
