Library Membership

If you are not currently a library member and would like to join so that you can access our online offer, we can provide online membership which will let you use a wide range of digital services including ebooks, eaudiobooks, digital magazines, comics and newspapers. If you already have full library membership these services are automatically included so you do not need to re-join. (If you are already a member and can't remember your card number and PIN contact libraries@cumbria.gov.uk)

Set up your online membership on the library website - click Log In, complete the form and submit it. You will then be emailed your online membership number, and you can access our digital library services

You can also find out what's going on with our digital library offer through Facebook and Twitter, including online rhyme times and other activities:

Membership Renewals: Important change

So GDPR regulations and rules are met and to make sure all personal information is correct and up-to-date, library memberships will be reviewed and renewed every year.

You will be automatically reminded by email to renew your membership before it expires, so we encourage you to add your email address to your account.

If you have not provided an email address you will still get an alert on your online account, be prompted when using a self-issue machine or alerted by library staff.

Once you have been prompted to renew your membership please check that the personal details we hold are correct and either confirm they are or let us know of any changes by contacting your library or emailing libraries@cumbria.gov.uk. You may need to show current ID to confirm any changes and your membership will then be renewed for another 12 months.

If you do not contact us your membership will automatically expire.

You can check your personal details at any time by accessing your online library account.
