Event: Scary Little Girls: Salon du Chocolat - Borderlines Book Festival

< Return to calendar
Description
Scary Little Girls is an English production company with a passion for stories that are historically or culturally excluded. Most of their work revolves around literary, feminist
and historical themes. They have appeared regularly at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as at Glastonbury Festival. When chocolate was first introduced in England in the 1600s, it was considered a taboo substance, enjoyed only by the risque and elite in private salons. Some of our finest literature was also once considered too provocative for public consumption and was heard in similar salon environments by only the boldest of ears. Scary Little Girls recreate these intimate environs, combining mouth-watering chocolate treats with tales of the secret, the banned and the scandalous from authors such as Lord Byron, John Donne, Angela Carter and Joanne Harris.
