  • Eden Build your Home, Build your Community Event
    Calling all would be self-builders! Do you like the idea of designing or building your own home or getting together with others to do something like that? If 'yes' this FREE event is for you! This event at Rheged, Penrith on July 4th 2019 from 6pm will give you the latest information and advice on self-build, custom-build and community-led housing projects and an opportunity to chat with industry professionals about your self-build ideas. Key speakers include architectural designer and writer Charlie Luxton, who presents TV programme 'Building the Dream' on More 4. There will be many industry exhibitors to offer guidance and answer questions. Sponsored by Thomas Armstrong. Hosted by Eden District Council. As places at the event are limited, register your interest now at http://bit.ly/edenselfbuild or register by email: loc.plan@eden.gov.uk providing your name and the number of people interested in attending. Places are limited - so book early!

  • Celebrating Animal Life
    Let's celebrate fur family! Please join us for an outdoor celebration and memorial service in appreciation of all our animal companions that share and enrich our lives. We'll be celebrating the importance of our animal family both who are with us now and those who have sadly left us. You can also help us to build a remembrance cairn in Memory Lane. Arrive from 12.00 for service at 13:00 kindly officiated by Interfaith Minster Rev. Helen Parsons. Everyone very welcome, including dogs. Light refreshments available plus opportunity to meet our rescue cats and dogs. Entry by donation.

  • Ambleside Rushbearing
    An ancient tradition dating back to when the church floors were covered in rushes. These rushes were renewed annually with all the village helping to gather the rushes, bring them to the church and lay them on the floor. Nowadays, the rushes are decorated with flowers or perhaps put onto Rush bearings and carried around the village by children and adults, accompanied by Burneside Brass Band. Following a short church service all participants are given a piece of gingerbread and all participating children are given a small picnic bag, then everyone sets off to the Rushbearing Sports, with childrens races for all age groups, including the Fell Race.

  • Flower Festival 'Life on the Fell'
    A mix of contemporary and traditional floral and craft displays to depict life on Cartmel Fell throughout the ages. Exhibitors from all over the northwest will be making the displays both inside the church and in the churchyard. Refreshments will be available nearby.

    Come and create a 'buzz!' at Florence Arts Centre with a free jam-packed day of creative pollinator-themed arts and craft activities for all the family. - Bag decorating - Make bee bombs and crafty bees - Bumblebee walk - Film - Sewing the Seeds exhibition (textile craft!) - Explore the UV garden - Pollinator treasure hunt - And more! Take some time also to explore the iconic red old mine, workers' buildings and wildlife garden. FREE Drop in event.

  • Askam Town Silver Band Concert
    1st concert of the newly re-formed band. All proceeds to ' Looking good Feeling great' cancer support group. All welcome. Doors open 6:30 for 7pm start. Entry £5 on the door, with cake and refreshments included

  • Harrington Family Fun Day
    Join us inside our marquee at Harrington Marina for a FREE family fun day. There will be lots to do for the whole family including crafts, face painting, chalk art, storyteller and much more. Taking place on Saturday 27th July from 1pm-4pm at Harrington Marina. Watch this space for more information, but for now, get the date in your diary! We work on a first come first served basis so arrive early to avoid disappointment!
