  • Carlisle-Stavanger Partnership Service
    Carlisle Cathedral are thrilled to welcome the Bishop of Stavanger, Anne Lise Adnoy, to Carlisle, with a delegation from The Church of Norway. At this special service we will be giving thanks for the continued partnership between our Dioceses. The service will be followed by the re-signing of the agreement between the Diocese of Carlisle and the Diocese of Stavanger. This is a public service and everyone is welcome to attend.

  • The Big Sleep 2019
    This year, the annual Big Sleep is on Saturday 9th March. It takes place on the shore of Lake Windermere, opposite the Low Wood Bay Hotel in Windermere. The event aims to raise awareness of the plight of older people who struggle to heat their homes during the winter months. People taking part are encouraged to get sponsorship for braving the cold weather overnight. All money raised supports the Winter Warmth Appeal - a pot of money distributed to older, vulnerable Cumbrians via Age UK to help pay towards heating bills. Since its launch the Big Sleep has raised £100,000. To sign up to the Big Sleep, it costs £35 for adults and £5 for children - to enter visit: www.cumbriafoundation.org/bigsleep. The entry fee covers refreshments, an evening meal, activities throughout the day and breakfast.

    Weekly Drop In Meditation classes led by Buddhist Nun Kelsang Minche. Classes will resume on Thursday starting Jan 17th. No need to book, just turn up. Each class contains two meditations and a talk on some aspect of Buddhism
