  • Green Door Art Trial 2022
    This popular annual event, provides the opportunity to see an extensive and varied range of work from artists both contemporary and traditional. And all of our artists are looking forward to talking about their work and how they create it! Trail venues can be found across South Cumbria from Kendal, down to Milnthorpe and then across to Lindale and Newby Bridge. Group venues are the Athenaeum at Leasgill near Milnthorpe and Space2Create in Kendal. We have simplified and streamlined it so dedicated Trail enthusiasts should be able to get round all the venues. The Trail is a showcase for members' work across a wide range of disciplines including textiles, painting, printmaking, ceramics, stonewear, pastels and mixed media. It's the highlight of our year and an occasion to browse and buy a beautiful piece of unique art that is locally created. If buying a piece of art is out of your reach, we'll have gorgeous cards and smaller items on sale too.

  • Melanie Baker
    Doors 7.30pm | Tickets £10 | Malt Room Cabaret Indie-folk artist Melanie Baker, hailing from the Lake District, isn't afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve. Her direct and honest lyricism capture themes such as falling in and out of love, self-reflection and the anxieties of modern life. Her captivating live set has been refined over years of performing and since playing her first solo gigs as a teenager, she has gone onto support the likes of dodie, Tessa Violet, Maisie Peters and Will Varley. Her two self-released EPs "Dreamer" (2018) and "Broken" (2020) have organically amassed over a million streams on Spotify alone and received radio play from  BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 1. Reflecting on her songwriting process, Melanie says "I write about what I know and how I feel, if other people can relate to that then sharing those songs feels like an integral part of the process.

    Tue 20 Sep to Tue 6 Dec | 4.30-6pm | £50 (10 wks) | 11-14 yrs | Tutor Tiiva Learn how to write and record your own songs and music using Ableton. Working with a professional music producer will be a fun and creative way to write together. The group will use a digital lab to make their own piece of music and explore the creativity of producing music along the way. What will the session cover and how will it be taught? Learn how to write and record your own songs, produce and make beats, using digital software in a creative space. We'll play around with effects like reverb, beat making and building our own synth sounds, to make a track as our own music group. Learn how to write and produce with your voices, and instruments in an open safe space, sharing ideas and expressing yourself through music making. We'll be writing, improvising and producing using Ableton and GarageBand.
