  • Keswick Choral Society rehearsal
    First post-Covid rehearsal, long-awaited. Old and new members welcomed to prepare for the new season. Risk assessment has been carried out and social distancing will be observed; bring a face covering please and your own refreshments. We very much look forward to seeing each other and meeting new people!

  • Ernie's Journey
    The seamless integration of story-telling, circus, physical theatre, stage magic, poetry and puppetry will nurture and excite your inner-child. An original live concert-harp score takes the tale from the dreamy realms of distant shores to the most raucous sea shanties! This show is particularly enchanting for 4-11 year-olds but the high-skill circus will amaze even the most cynical teenagers! A young boy sets off one day to become a pirate. He will never make it! Or will he?

    Join us online at 7.30pm on Monday 13 September for a Free Zoom talk: THE KIRKBY LONSDALE LETTERS: Navigating the Old English Poor Law: by Dr Peter Jones and Dr Steven King Peter and Steven will talk to us about their book which is based on 600 letters written by or for the poor of Kirkby Lonsdale in the early 19th Century.   • Kendal Mountain Tour 2021
    Join us for an evening of film celebrating adventure from some of the most spectacular places on earth, brought to you by the team behind Kendal Mountain Festival. You'll be guided through a curation of stories from across the globe, told by a unique collection of travellers, athletes, activists and creatives. Through culturally rich, cinematically beautiful and thought-provoking films we'll ask; what is possible in a changing world, what is beautiful, what is wild and what defines adventure? The evening will include on-screen insights from the Kendal Mountain Festival team, as well as on-screen interviews with the filmmakers themselves.

  • Havenfest 2.0
    Following on from the success of our previous music festival we are back even bigger this year. The covid pandemic proved a great stress for the local community and we are aiming to provide an accessible day for all people. Our line up includes local acts: Danny Dunnery, Springfield, Solomon and Beatles boy. Our headliner is the sensational ABBA A-RIVAL! We will asking guests to provide a negative lateral flow or proof of double vaccination along with a photographic Id to ensure safety for all on site!

  • Buddhist Group of Kendal (Theravada)
    BGKT founded 1991. 30th anniversary 2021. Monthly Sunday public Open meeting. All welcome. Meeting led by Lay Teachers Authorized by the Sangha [Community of Theravada Buddhist Monks]. Theravada is the oldest school of Buddhism in the world and it is practised today in South and South East Asia.   • Green Door Art Trail 2021
    Our Art Trail will return on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September 2021. More than 40 artists based in 23 venues will be opening their doors to the public. Visitors will find a wide range of original art including textiles, painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, glass, pastels and mixed media. There will also be those popular small and special treats, including greetings cards. Trail venues can be found across the south of the county from Sedbergh, over to Kendal, down to Milnthorpe and Burton, and then across to Newby Bridge and Ulverston. Group venues are the Athenaeum at Leasgill near Milnthorpe and Space2Create in Kendal. All Trail venues are open on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September and a number are also opening on Friday 24 September. Look out for timings in the catalogue as you plan your route.   • Affinity Credit Union At Keswick Library
    Keswick's Affinity Credit Union will be hosting drop-in information and advice sessions at Keswick Library on the second Wednesday of every month between 9.30 and 11am. The service will launch on Wednesday September 11th between 9.30 am and 11 am. Please drop in to any session to find out how you can get help with practical money saving techniques such as choosing an energy supplier, living healthily on less, budgeting, saving, along with little tips for making your money go further. There's no need to make an appointment just pop in and have a chat.

    Walking is a great way to get fit, explore what's on your doorstep and make new friends. Join us for a short relaxed stroll around Vulcan Park, Workington. We'll meet at 11am in the foyer of Workington Library every Tuesday. The walk will be at a relaxed pace and take between 20 - 30 minutes. The route is flat, with places to sit and rest if required, so the walk is suitable for all ages and abilities.
