At 05:41 hours on 25th June 2019, one fire engine from Cockermouth was mobilised to a vehicle fire at Tendley Hill Quarry, Brigham. On arrival crews found one vehicle well alight and extinguished this using 2 hose reels and 2 breathing apparatus. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

At 03:14 hours on 25th June 2019, two fire engines from Carlisle East and Carlisle West were mobilised to a fire involving a single storey semi-detached domestic building on Northwood Crescent, Carlisle. Fire fighters use one hose reel, two breathing apparatus and one positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire, and also administered first aid to one casualty. The casualty was then conveyed to hospital by ambulance staff. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one hour.

At 11:00, three fire engines from Barrow and Ulverston were mobilised to Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness, where a Motability Scooter had become trapped in sand and was sinking. Fire crews removed the scooter and the driver from the sand using small tools. Crews were in attendance for approximately thirty minutes.

At 10:58, four fire engines from Patterdale, Penrith, Appleby and Shap were mobilised to Bedlands Gate, Newby, where a microlight aircraft had crashed landed onto a field. Fire crews administered first aid before handing the casualty over to the care of the Ambulance Service. The casualty was conveyed to hospital by air ambulance, and fire crews remained at the incident standing by keeping the area and scene safe, due to leaking aviation fuel. Crews used one main branch, one foam jet and two fire extinguishers. Crews were in attendance for approximately two and a half hours.

At 20:26 on 19th June 2019 two fire engines from Barrow in Furness Fire Station and one fire engine from Walney Fire Station attended a fire involving a domestic property on Low White Close Barrow. The fire involved a first floor flat. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, one thermal imaging camera, small gear and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire. Crews were detained for approximately one hour. One casualty was treated for smoke inhalation.

At 08:37 hours, two fire engines from Barrow and Ulverston attended a rescue from height at Skiddaw Gardens, Barrow-in-Furness. One casualty was rescued using a triple extension ladder and a roof ladder. The casualty received first aid from firefighters before being handed to paramedics. Fire services were on scene for approximately twenty five minutes.

The incident was an explosion involving a cooker in a domestic property, one casualty was treated for burns and handed over to paramedics. On arrival the crews found a property fire and used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, one jet and small tools to extinguish the fire. Crews were on scene for approximately three and a half hours.

At 20:25 hours on the 15th of June 2019 four fire engines from Ulverston, Millom, Milnthorpe and Grange along with two wildfire units from Grange and Millom attended reports of a fire at Humphrey Head point in Cumbria. On arrival the crews discovered a fire involving approximately 500 by 100 metres of grass and gorse spreading along the foreshore and cliff edge. Wildfire land rovers, high pressure jets, one major base pump, two light portable pumps and wildfire teams were utilised to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately three hours.

At 14:55 hours on May 30th 2019 two fire engines - one from Ulverston and one from Broughton fire stations attended a road traffic collision on the A5092 Lowick green Ulverston this involved one vehicle that had gone through a brick wall and there were four casualties at the scene - one baby was released from the car by fire service personnel and three other casualties were then placed in the car of the ambulance service - crews were at the scene for about forty five minutes.

Emergency Services are currently in attendance at a chemical fire at Cummersdale Printworks.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue received a report of a fire at around 11.10am.

There have been no serious injuries as a result of the incident.

Six employees were taken from the scene by ambulance, five were taken as a precaution only whilst the sixth was experiencing some minor issues.

Cumbria Police has put in place a 400m cordon and there is no risk to anyone outside this cordon. There is one property within the cordon. The people in this property have been advised to shelter and keep their doors and windows closed. This is standard advice with an incident of this nature

The incident is on-going and in line with appropriate professional advice, the fire is being allowed to burn out at this time.

The public is advised to avoid the area at this time and respect the cordon which has been put in place.
