Council Plan 2018 to 2023

Cumbria County Council's four year plan sets out the outcomes we want to achieve for the people of Cumbria, and the approaches we will use to contribute to achieving these outcomes. This Council Plan reflects the big challenges and significant uncertainty the Council and Cumbria is facing over the next four years.

This Council Plan has been agreed following consultation with the public, other organisations and groups, and council staff. We will continue to engage with our communities, our partner organisations and our staff as we make the changes and design the services to focus on achieving our outcomes.

Our vision is:  A Council that works with residents, businesses, communities and other organisations to deliver the best services possible within the available resources.

The three outcomes the Council wants for the people of Cumbria are:

  • people in Cumbria are healthy and safe

  • places in Cumbria are well connected and thriving

  • the economy in Cumbria is growing and benefits everyone.

This Council Plan will be supported by an annual Council Plan Delivery Plan which will describe the key activities we will undertake to deliver the outcomes in the Council Plan, and what we will measure to assess our progress.
