Since the closure of the Armathwaite Nursery Group the governors had been providing a 'governor-led' childcare provision. The governors sought to formalise the establishment of a maintained nursery by changing the age range of the school from 4 to 11 to 3 to 11. This consultation was concerned with the arrangements for primary education in the villages of Armathwaite and High Hesket. The suggested change was for Armathwaite to become an all-through primary school catering for children aged 4 to 11 with no transfer at the end of Year 3 to High Hesket. The council wanted to hear views on this possibility before it decided to make a change.
