3/8/2012 - Resurfacing works scheduled for South Lakes : Cumbria County Council

Roads across South Lakeland will receive a re-vamp over the coming weeks as Cumbria County Council’s South Lakes Highways Team carry out a resurfacing programme in various areas.

While these essential works are carried out, temporary road closures will be in place. The resurfacing work scheduled are – (Durations are approximate)

6 August - Loftus Hill, Sedbergh between Busk Lane and Milthrop Bridge for five days.
9 August - Loftus Hill on Finkle Street for five days
14 August - Sedbergh Drive, Kendal from its junction with Ullswater Road for four days
16 August – in Kendal from the juntion of Lingmoor Rise and Valley Drive to the junction of Esthwaite Avenue and Beckside, for ten days
10 September – Barker Knott Farm, near Windermere, for five days
1 October – Glebe Road, Bowness for five days
29 October - A65 Endmoor for five days

Diversions will be signed throughout the duration of the works and the County Council will ensure that local residents and the general public are kept informed throughout the works. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times for each closure.

In addition to this planned work, the A591 between Holbeck Lane and Waterhead is due to be resurfaced on the 8th October. Works will be carried out under traffic signals, some during the evening to allow for safe working for operatives and the general public are being asked for patience as the works progress.

County councillor Tony Markley, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “We apologise for any delay the works may cause, however members of the public will no doubt see the benefits these essential resurfacing works will bring and the County Council will do all it can to keep any disruption to a minimum.”
