Barrow library is offering young people an opportunity to learn how to design their very own Manga comic characters this Wednesday (29 October).
Manga is the Japanese word for comics, but recently it has become a term that covers a particular artistic and storytelling style such as the hugely popular adventures of Pokemon.
Young people aged between 13 and 18 are invited to come along to Barrow library on Wednesday, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm to learn how to design and introduce characters, and produce their very own dynamic, Japanese- comic books.
Whilst each artist has their own style, there are a few things that give Manga a distinctive look. Drawings are typically done in pen and ink, most characters have very large, almond-shaped eyes and other out of proportion body parts. In all but the most serious stories, characters also show their emotions quite clearly - for example, a sweat drop on the forehead means a character is worried!
