Parents of pre-school children in Cumbria are being reminded to apply for a place at an infant or primary school for their child this week.
Children who are born between 1 September 2004 and the 31 August 2005 can start primary school in September 2009 and parents are being reminded to complete the application form which is available from the ‘Starting School in Cumbria’ information pack.
The pack has been distributed to all infant and primary schools in Cumbria and parents are also able to apply online at www.cumbria.gov.uk/childrensservices/admissions.
The admission to Infant or Primary School application form invites parents to express three preferences for schools in rank order with reasons for their preferences. The closing date for applications is the 1 December 2008.
Each parent will receive one offer of a school place from Cumbria County Council on 22 April 2009 and the deadline for parents to accept the place offered is the 8 May 2009.
Marie Bagnall, Admissions Manager for Children’s Services, said “We urge parents to complete the application form and return it to us before the deadline date as if a late application is submitted for an oversubscribed school it is unlikely that a place would be offered at the school, as all timely applications will be considered first.”
If you have any questions about applying for a school place please contact the Children’s Services Admissions Team on 01228 226894 or 01228 221198.
