31/1/2006 - Traffic calming top of forum agenda

Morton residents can find out more about the recent consultation on traffic calming on Ullswater and Windermere Roads at the next neighbourhood forum meeting.

Residents have been consulted over the last few months on the views for a traffic calming scheme to reduce the speed of traffic along the two roads and improve safety.

Local county councillor John Bell said: 

"This consultation exercise was carried out to find out the views of residents on a proposed traffic calming scheme to reduce speeding traffic and improve pedestrian safety in the area  This meeting will enable residents get some feedback on that consultation."

Other items on the agenda include: 

1.  Presentation by Carlisle City Council on waste minimisation and recycling 
2.  A representation from Carlisle Housing Association will be on hand to answer any questions residents may have 
3.  Grant application will also be considered for voluntary sector groups across the area 
4.  Community Police Officer will be on hand to listen to any policing issues residents may want to raise

The forum will meet on Wednesday 8th February 2006 at 7pm at Morton Community Centre on Wigton Road in Carlisle.
