Today, Cumbria County Council's local committee for Carlisle agreed to contribute £10k towards the next Pop 2 The Park Concert in August.
Thousands of youngsters flock to Bitts Park in Carlisle each year to see their favourite bands perform. For sponsoring the event the county council will be allocated a number of free tickets so children in care and their families can join in on the fun.
County councillor Cyril Weber, chairman of the local committee said:
"Thousands of youngsters have enjoyed the Pop 2 The Park concert over the last couple of years and I am delighted that this committee continues to support it. Last year we were able to make sure many of the children in care and their families didn't miss out and distributed over 100 free tickets. We will be able to do the same again this year. Carlisle City Council does an excellent job organising the event and I am sure this year will also be a great success."
