13/1/2006 - Community safety top of forum agenda

Castle ward residents will be able to hear about current developments for improved community safety in the area at the next neighbourhood forum meeting.

Paul Cain Neighbourhood Watch Development Officer will be at the meeting as well as Steven O'Keefe, Community Safety Development Officer who will be talking to residents about the alleygates scheme proposed for Crummock Street.

County councillor Geoff Hodgson will be chairing the meeting.  He said:

"Community safety is a priority for the county council.  With partners we continue to look at ways to reduce the harmful effects of crime, disorder and anti social behaviour.  Local residents have the right to live without fear of crime and we want to make sure that this area is a safe place to live and work.  I hope people take the time to come along to the meeting on Wednesday to find out more about the proposals and what they can do to help.”

Other items on the agenda include:

1.  Youth Development
2.  Police Matters
3.  Grant applications

The forum will meet at Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday 18th January 2006 at 7pm.
