The Environment Agency will be using a neighbourhood forum meeting to discuss its outline construction options for a flood defence for Carlisle.
Harraby residents will be among the first to hear the latest plans on how to protect the city from further flooding following the January 2005 floods.
People attending the meeting will also have the opportunity to talk to Flood Warning Officer Les Cornwall about setting up self-help groups.
Also on the agenda will be an update on the planned new police station in Rathbone.
County Councillor Mike Richardson, who represents Harraby, said: "It's now nearly 14 months since the floods hit Carlisle and the process of rebuilding and renewing the city is well underway. Now the focus is on making sure the floods don't happen again and ensuring that the city's facilities are better now than they were ever were before the floods."
The meeting will take place at Harraby Community Centre on March 3 at 10.30am.
