From next week, the county council's meals-on-wheels team and WRVS volunteers will be getting into the festive spirit with a series of events to mark the yuletide season.Photographers are invited to capture the events at the following locations:
On Monday 11 December, volunteers (and possibly even an snowman or two!) will be serving Christmas dinner to older people from the council's Moorfield Street Kitchen, Barrow from 10:30am. Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service's Denis Cook will also be on hand to provide fire safety advice.
Wednesday 13 December sees the team delivering presents to residents in Edenhall, Penrith which have been provided once again by the Penrith & District Flower Club from 7:30pm.
On Wednesday 20 December, Christmas dinner will be on the menu in Carlisle where staff and volunteers from the council's Edward Street Kitchen will be serving up a healthy dose of festive cheer from 10:30am.
The month will be rounded off on Thursday 21 December by Father Christmas who will be helping the Cockermouth team deliver yuletide hampers provided again this year by the Slater Trust starting out from the council's Sullart Street offices from 10:30am.
