The Jubilee Bridge between Barrow and Walney Island will be closed tonight between midnight on Thursday, August 31st, and 3am on Friday, September 1st, for essential maintenance work.
Cumbria Highways engineers will be replacing a metal plate and bolts on the lifting span of the bridge.
Work is being carried out at night to keep disruption to a minimum, but drivers wanting to cross between midnight and 3am may have to wait for at least 20 minutes. The bridge will be opened immediately in the event of an emergency.
