16/8/2006 - Picture story: Council leader kicks off 'Day in the Life' radio coverage

Tim Stoddard at radio Cumbria

Cumbria County Council leader Tim Stoddard helped kick off a day's coverage of the county council on BBC Radio Cumbria this morning.

He was interviewed live in the Carlisle studio on Gordon Swindlehurst & Helen Skelton's show as part of a special project where the local radio station is broadcasting a full day of programmes highlighting the range of services provided by the county council.

The picture below shows County Council Leader Tim Stoddard in BBC Radio Cumbria's Carlisle studio.

"We're one of the largest employers in Cumbria and have responsibility for a huge range of services. From the moment they are born - and their birth is registered through us - right through to when they die, people use the services provided by the council. BBC Radio Cumbria is a great way to help people understand what we do and the balancing act we have to perform in providing those services within permitted budgets. Hopefully today will spark people's imaginations and help them to engage with the council and know who to come with their suggestions and queries," said Councillor Stoddard.
