15/8/2006 - Sunday is Funday at Barrow Library

Barrow toddlers are in for a wave of seaside related summer fun thanks to a special imitative being run by the town's library.

On Sunday 20 August, children aged 3-6 will be able to enjoy an hour of of swell activities organised by Cumbria County Council's Library Service including story-time sessions and the chance to make seahorse pencil tops.

The high seas related high jinks get under way at 1:00pm and will last for around an hour. Tickets for the session are free and can be obtained from Barrow Library which can be contacted on 01229-894370. Places are limited and each child must have a parent in attendance.

Councillor Roger Bingham, the Cabinet member responsible for Cumbria’s Library Service, says special Sunday activities for children at the county’s six main libraries are proving more and more popular. “We hope that families who enjoy these special library Fundays will become regular users of the County Council's library services.”

Alongside Barrow, Cumbria County Council has five other main libraries which are open on Sundays at Whitehaven, Carlisle, Kendal, Penrith and Workington.

Information on all the events taking place in Cumbria’s libraries can be found on the Library Service’s website www.cumbriacc.gov.uk/libraries
