A new childminding group has got itself a bright new logo, thanks to the prize winning efforts of nine year old Elizabeth Mitchell from Carlisle.
Elizabeth is the winner of a competition to design a logo for the newly formed Carlisle and District Childminders Group, which aims to give advice and support to childminders in the area.
A colourful design featuring a garden, a teddy bear and a butterfly won Elizabeth a craft making activity box. CFM's Robbie Dee will be presenting Elizabeth with her prize tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 11 April) at the home of Elizabeth's own childminder, Vanessa Davies, in Lowry Hill in Carlisle.
All local childminders were given competition entry forms to pass on to the children they look after and over forty entries were received.
Committee members from the Carlisle and District Childminders Group will also be at the prize giving. The group gets support from Cumbria County Council's Sure Start, and will officially launch in May.
Local childminders will soon be able to register with the group. Registration costs £10 for a year, and the benefits of membership include advice on advertising, the services of a vacancy co-ordinator, use of a toy library, a toddler group for minded children, support from other childminders, and guest speakers.
