The Area Support Team works with Carlisle Local Committee. The Committee, comprising of 18 local county councillors, manages a number of county council services locally. These include highways, youth and neighbourhood development. The reason these services are managed locally is to secure the greatest possible involvement from communities in the planning and improving local delivery. The Area Support team works with local residents, community groups and businesses to influence and improve services and the quality of lives for residents in the Carlisle area.

Working in the community
The Carlisle team work across the 18 Electoral Divisions in Carlisle and District. Work in the community includes holding meetings, consultations and issue based forums that bring local people together to discuss community needs, future plans and celebrate local achievements.
Services to Young People
The Carlisle Area Support Staff manage a grants budget for projects aimed at young people aged 0 – 19.
We hold public meetings covering local issues, ideas or concerns, all with the aim of supporting the local community to add value to where they live. Consultations are undertaken through a variety of ways such as; issue based forums focusing on a particular issue relevant to that community; questionnaires and surveys about a topic; and simply listening to feedback from the community.
