You can now apply for Library membership via this website.
Joining Cumbria Libraries is simple and membership is free. Upon receipt of your application, your card and welcome pack will be posted directly to your address. Your library card cannot be used until it is activated. Please go to your local library and bring proof of your name and address. The following forms of ID are acceptable:
Council Tax Bill
Children and Young People: You can join at any library or online and it is free. Just fill in a form, then choose from one of our eight specially designed cards. You will receive your library card and your Welcome Pack and can borrow items immediately.
A parent or guardian must sign a consent form before children can use the Internet. Ask a member of staff at your local library for details
Terms and Conditions: Library cards are not transferable. Any loss or change of details must be notified as soon as possible. A charge may be made for replacement cards.
Lost Cards: If you lose your library card or believe that it has been stolen please inform your nearest library as soon as possible. If you subsequently recover the card or would like to obtain a replacement you will be asked to provide identification from the approved list before your membership is reactivated.
Forgotten to bring your library card: If a library card has been forgotten ID will have to be provided to check against our patron membership records. This is due to the Data Protection Act. Acceptable forms of ID are your driving licence or a recent bill or bank statement with your name and address on it.
