  • Poetry Reading - Jennifer Copley & Sarah Littlefeather

    Grange Library

On Thursday 15th February we will be welcoming local poets Jennifer Copley and Sarah Littlefeather to Grange Library to read their unique poems. Jennifer recently published a collection of her work in 'Some couples' and Sarah's poetry is in a collection entitled 'Another Creature'. Jennifer lives in Barrow-in-Furness in her grandmother's house, a large draughty Victorian pile that has informed much of her poetry. She is the author of 3 full collections of poetry and several pamphlets. She says 'I must tell stories. Stories about people (or animals) in improbable situations' Sarah is an Ojibwa Indian. She was born in Toronto, Canada and raised, by adopted parents, in London, England. Sarah is married to a musician and they live in Cumbria with 2 dogs. When she is not writing or working, she likes to ride around a farm on a quadbike with her shepherd. Tickets £1 to include refreshments available from Grange Library.

  • Alice in the Cuckoo's Nest

    Kendal Library

Librarian Theatre will be performing their experimental new adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Alice in the Cuckoo’s Nest. Alice in the Cuckoo’s Nest re-imagines Lewis Carroll’s classic story in the setting of a modern day mental institution. Although the show is family friendly, it is a far cry from the innocent adventure portrayed in Walt Disney’s 1951 film. Children aged 8+ (accompanied by an adult) are very welcome; please note however that this is not a children’s show, and the production explores adult themes of mental health. The show lasts approximately one hour with no interval. Tickets available online and through the library.
