  • Author Event -Martin Salter-Smith - The Spanish Son

    Ulverston library

    Martin Salter-Smith was born in Liverpool but has lived and worked in Cumbria for over 40 years. The Spanish Son is a thriller set in Cumbria, Liverpool, Barcelona and The Pyrenees. The plot was sparked by the author reading about events in the Pyrenees during and after the Spanish Civil war. Join us to hear Martin talk about his progress from writing poetry, short stories and magazine articles to full-length novels. This will be for 6 weeks (excluding May Day and Whit Monday) from 3.30 to 4.30 pm and is FREE for children aged 7 to 11 years. Places are limited and booking is required.     Don't miss our weekly Storytime Sessions for the under-5s: Tales for Tiny Tots on Tuesdays at 2.00pm. Come and join in the fun of a good story or two with your children or grandchildren - they're never too young to join the Library, so you can borrow lots more books, story sacks, toy sacks, talking books or DVDs to enjoy with them at home. Early readers will enjoy all the books designed to help them read for themselves, and older brothers and sisters can choose from a wide range of popular authors and favourites. Windermere also has an excellent selection of non-fiction, from sports to space travel or from history to hydroelectricity which also supports their school topics.
