We are looking to appoint a number of keys roles within our Children’s Services directorate in west Cumbria to share responsibility for leading the strategic work of the department, support our change programme and contribute to making a real difference to the safety and well-being of Cumbria’s children.

All the new roles are based from either the Whitehaven or Workington offices. We are looking for people who share our vision and ambition, who have successful experience in a similar role and a good knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, as well as the ability to inspire the trust and confidence of senior professionals across a range of agencies.

Team Manager

We are looking for a team manager to lead the Child and Family Support team.

You will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality fieldwork service for looked after children and care leavers that ensures their needs are met, their outcomes improve and they achieve to their potential.



Enhanced Social Workers and Social Workers

We are looking for Enhanced Social Workers and Social Workers to join our Child Protection, Child and Family Support, Youth Offending and Children Looked After teams. You will help improve outcomes for children and young people in west Cumbria by listening to the voice of the child, young person and their families, understanding their needs and working together to agree how these needs will be met with the right help and support.

You will deliver complex services and support to individuals and groups and to improve service users’ well-being and skills.

Appointment Bonus

These roles are eligible for a generous appointment bonus on top of the council’s excellent relocation package This will be awarded once the you have been in the role for three months. It is repayable if the you leave the role within 3 years of appointment.

Team leaders will receive £5000.
Social workers will receive £4000.
