Whether you are a school leaver looking for employment for the first time, or a young person aged 16- 24 years old and unsure of how to get your foot on your career ladder, an apprenticeship with Cumbria County Council will give you real opportunities to pursue your future career.

Apprenticeship opportunities are available throughout the county of Cumbria in a variety of different vocational areas. Some of these include Business Administration, Fire and Rescue operatives, Civil and Electrical engineering, Stone Masonry, Motor Vehicle, Customer Service and Health and Social Care.

In the last year, Cumbria County Council has employed 123 apprentices.  Of these, 56 have completed their training and progressed directly into employment within or outside the council, further or higher learning, and 53 remain on programme in the council.  This is why Cumbria County Council was named North West Apprentice Employer of the Year 2012 (Macro employer) by the National Apprentice Service.

The council was recognised as North West Apprentice Employer of the Year 2012 (Macro Employer)

for its work in developing the numbers, range and levels of apprenticeships for young people in Cumbria during 2012 by progressing apprentices into employment through effective workforce planning.
