'Washington Wild Flowers' by Alan Oatway
A welcome return by Alan as he extends our knowledge of the origins of some of our garden flowers. Alan, an accomplished speaker, knowledgeable about alpine plants from many areas, chose to make an individual visit to Washington State in the North-West of the United States. The mountains visited included the Cascades, Burroughs Mountain and Mount Baker. The plants shown in a series of excellent photographs are abundant and colourful with familiar names but with a hint of America included. The wildflower meadows measured up to anything to be seen in Europe. The visible wildlife included deer, chipmunk, birds, especially flickers (woodpeckers) and humming birds and Orca whales off the coast. An excellent and entertaining talk.
