Register to vote

You can vote only if your name is on the register of electors. You can register to vote online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote . You will need your National Insurance Number and your date of birth - the process takes about 5 minutes. If you would like to check if you are registered to vote or change your existing details please contact your local Electoral Registration Officer as soon as possible at:

Postal and proxy voting

If you will be unable to go to your polling station to vote in person you can apply for an absent vote.  You can choose either to vote by post (your ballot paper will be posted to you before polling day with a pre-paid return envelope) or appoint someone to vote on your behalf (called a proxy voter).  Please contact your local Electoral Registration Officer about applying for an absent vote.

Applications must be received by the Electoral Registrations Officer by 5pm on Tuesday 18 April 2017.
