Collision in East Carlisle

At 07:44 hours on the 19th July 2018 three fire engines from Carlisle West, Carlisle East and Penrith attended a collision on Spellar Way, Kingmoor Park in East Carlisle. On arrival fire crews found the collision involved one waggon and one van.
All persons were out of the vehicles on fire service arrival and being dealt with by paramedics. Fire crews made the scene safe and were detained for fifteen minutes.

At 19:32 firefighters were called to a horse which was stuck in a bog on Newby Bridge, Ulverston. On arrival crews found a stallion stuck up to its haunches in a bog. Crews used strops and lines to haul the horse to safety.

At 21:01 firefighters were called to a shed fire on Richardson Street, Carlisle. Crews found a shed measuring 10m by 8m well alight on arrival and the crew, one wearing a breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Just after 10:00 firefighters were called to a large grass fire at Raven Crag near to Thirlmere Reservoir.
Appliances from Keswick, Cockermouth, Lazonby, Millom, Ambleside and Windermere, along with a water bowser from Penrith and wildfire units from Keswick, Windermere, Ambleside and Millom are in attendance tackling the fire. Crews are using beaters and water back packs and the incident is ongoing.

Update - 8.00 Monday 16 July
The majority of the fire has now been extinguished, although there are still a number of smouldering hot spots. Additional firefighters will be returning to the site at 8am to continue to damping down at the scene.

Update - 3pm on Monday 16 July

Firefighters have continued to extinguish small pockets of fire using jets. A fire fighting helicopter is due to land to put out the main pockets of fire on the steep ground.

Update at 5pm on Monday 16th July
The fire has now been extinguished and all the fire crews have left the site.

The casualty was then passed to the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital via air ambulance.

At 08:48 firefighters were called to a woodland fire at Peter Gate, Armathwaite, Carlisle.
On arrival at High Stand Forrest the crew from Carlisle East Fire Station discovered a fire involving an area of woodland measuring approximately 20 metres by 10 metres, including trees and bushes.
They later discovered a separate seat of fire at the same location.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fires.
They then damped the areas down to make them safe.
The crew were in attendance for more than two hours.

At 11:34 firefighters were called to a report of a fire in a kitchen at a domestic property in Lady Holme Walk in Windermere.
The kitchen was heavily smoke logged on arrival, caused by cooking fumes.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a thermal imaging camera to check for signs of a fire.
There was no fire in the property.
Firefighters cleared smoke from the property and were in attendance for around half-an-hour.

At 1:25pm firefighters were called to a grass fire at Monk Moors, Eskmeals, Millom.
On arrival crews discovered that the fire was affecting an area measuring approximately 40 square metres.
Firefighters used two hose reel jets and two beaters to put out the fire.
They then damped the area down to make sure it was safe.
Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour-and-a-half.

At 15:08 firefighters were called to a fire in an agricultural building measuring 100m by 50m which had several agricultural vehicles and livestock inside, on Seaville, Silloth. Crews, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a main jet, a foam system, a hose reel jet, a triple extension ladder, drag rakes and a thermal imaging camera to fight the fire.
There were no reports of any injury to the livestock.
Crews were at the scene for two hours.

Firefighters extinguished the fires with two hose reel jets.
Foam was also used.
Approximately seven thousand litres of water and seven litres of foam was used.
Firefighters were in attendance for around two hours.

On arrival the crew discovered that it was a small fire.
Firefighters liaised with Network Rail staff and extinguished the fire with water.

On arrival crews discovered that one person was trapped.
The casualty was removed from the vehicle by firefighters and handed over to the care of paramedics.
Firefighters were in attendance for nearly an hour.

On arrival the crew discovered that the pylon was well alight.
The area was cordoned off and Electricity North West attended and isolated the electrics.
Once the electrics were isolated firefighters extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.
They were in attendance for around an hour and 40 minutes.

Masonry had fallen from a building, narrowly avoiding pedestrians. Crews used ladders and small tools to remove the unsafe masonry and also cleared debris from the pavement. They were in attendance for around 20 minutes.

ORIGINAL - At 14:09 Firefighters from Carlisle East and Brampton were called to reports of a fire at the rear of B&Q on London Road in Carlisle.
The fire is on a railway embankment at the rear side of the road and is approximately 300 metres by 20 metres.
The team are currently using hose reel jets and a water back pack to tackle the fire. An additional crew from Carlisle West has also been called to the incident.

UPDATE - 4pm - Firefighters from Carlisle East, Carlisle West and Brampton are continuing to fight the fire at the side of the railway in Carlisle.
The team are using two hose reel jets, beaters and water backpacks to tackle the fire, which is approximately 6,000 square metres.

UPDATE - 4.40pm - Four hose reel jets are now in user to fight the fire.

At 13:12 firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle having overturned between junctions 45 and 46 on the M6 southbound.
On arrival crews discovered a male was trapped in a Land Rover.
The used cutting equipment to free the casualty from the vehicle and handed him over to the care of Air Ambulance paramedics.
He was air lifted to the Royal Victoria hospital in Newcastle.
Firefighters helped to make the scene safe before leaving.
