At 05:06, two fire engines form Whitehaven and Egremont attended a small fire in the open on Towerson Street, Cleator. On arrival crews were made aware of a gas leak and asked for the attendance of gas engineers. Fire-fighters assisted Cumbria Police with the evacuation of nearby properties until the gas was isolated. Crews were in attendance for approximately two and a half hours.

At 23:41, two fire engines from Millom and Bootle attended a serious road traffic collision at The Hill, Millom. The incident involved two vehicles and there were two persons trapped.
